Here is my concern.....see the screenshots below. As you can see in CCC, it only shows one video card....when I had two 1950XTX's in crossfire it would show 2. In the device manager shot it shows two RV670's and when I had the two 1950XTX's it would show two 1950XTX Primary's and two 1950XTX Secondary's as display adapters.

Showing one card in the Display Manager is normal now
Unlocking ATI Overdrive is the only place I found both cards in CCC.

The Crossfire menu will stay if you pull out a card without reinstalling the drives

Which drivers are you using? It should say HD3870...NOT RV670.

I was using 7.11, but I used the ones that came on the disk with the cards per someones suggestion I saw.

I guess they changed the way the drivers work to confuse me. I certainly hope the drivers mature because I can tell you that the 3780's do not have the performance my pair of 1950's had.

Seeing only one card in CCC is normal. Try running 3dmark06 in CF enabled, and then CF disabled. What kind of scores are you getting? Should be somewhere in the 10000 (non CF) to 13000 (CF) range without overclocking the card memories. Are your PCI slots configured for their maximum bandwidth (not familiar with your mobo, but I assume you would get 8x for each of the two cards in CF).

Theres a patch out for Vista for dual vid cards and performance issues

Graphics performance can be improved in certain multiple-GPU scenarios on a Windows Vista-based computer

If all else fails, you might try updating your motherboard bios?

I didn't realize they made 512mb versions of the 3850.

I also read today that there will be a passively cooled 3850.

That's cool but might as well spend an extra $13.00 and get the 3870 for $232.20.
