5850 Overclockers Thread :D

Haha im not sure if theres already one of these, i checked the search and there didn't seem to be. Anyway whats the highest STABLE overclock that you've managed on your 5850?
I believe you guys so screenshots for verification aren't necessary (unless you want to add them) ;)

I managed 888mhz on the core and 1188 on the mem, but for ABSOLUTE stability i stick to 871mhz core and 1171 on the mem :D

I have a Powercolor PCS+ 5850 and I can do 800Mhz on the core but I can't do 825Mhz on the core, and I have the mem at 1100Mhz

Currently running @ 880 / 1100 at 1.1v stable. Haven't had a need to push it higher yet.

so i flashed my XFX to the MSI bios, and I can't unlock the voltage, even after ticking the boxes in MSI afterburner...i guess i am restricted by a non-reference card?

that being said, I am now able to push the clocks in CCC much higher than they were before...but is there a limit that I should be aware of, as I am limited to stock voltages?

I have a Sapphire hd 5850 1 GB I removed the stock cooler and Installed a Thermalright Spitfire and VRM-R5 Cooler, I run 975/1300 @ 1.225V. My temps in a 25 degree room are 31 at idle and 55 at full load running FurMark @ 1920x1080. I flashed the BIOS with the MSI binaries to unlock the vcore adjustment and I use MSI afterburner to overlock. One thing I would warn against with Afterburner is making a custom automatic fan setting, everytime the fan changes speed you video will stutter like crazy, better stick to a fixed fan speed instead.

I have a question with msi afterburner..

I'm overclocking my 5850 usin afterburner with "enableunofficialoverclocking=1" to get over the 765 limit on the core clock.

But once I set the core clock any higher than that 765, the gpu will constantly stay at the higher speed (ie if I set core clock to 780, then afterburner monitor shows the core clock and mem clock to be constantly max, basically 100% gpu usage even at idle)

why does that happen? I would like it to overclock only wheni start a game to keep temps and fan noise down? Thanks for any advice.

You can make two profiles using MSI Afterburner: one for idle 2d use, and another for 3d use. Just save the clock speeds you want for each one, and configure it accordingly in the settings.

That is a frickin crazy cooler man. Huge overclock too. You're stable, in game? Cause I know I've used furmark before and it's stayed stable for over an hour but I'd go play some BFBC and it would fail.... Kind of funny since it's supposed to be a stability test. Same thing goes with Prime 95'ing a CPU though. Could be stable for hours but run some gaming or folding on it and you can watch it fail.
