Default 8800GTS 320MB

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but BST thread didn't seem apropriate either.
Came across a evga 8800gts for sale, just wondering or double checking here to see what its worth? I don't really need it thats why I'm sitting on the fence debating on whether to buy.

I'd say around $50.... should produce around 4K if you plan on folding with it... hint...hint...

You can usually pick up used 8800GT's for around $60-70. so ya I don't think I'd pay more than $50. Those cards also consume quite a bit of power compared to newer cards...

I would say $40 max. Used 9600GSOs if you can find them are about $40-50, and they are better for gaming and folding than these cards, overclock better, and consume less power.

maybe 30? higher power consumption, lower performance vs 8800gt.

I don't know what they're worth now - But I will say up until about a month ago I was still using mine for all the new games. Call of Duty series, Any valve stuff ( L4d2, etc. ) it could still play anything. I never tried it with Battlefield Bad Company - I suspect that would choke the life out of it.

BUT - saying that - I was also on an old 3800x2 socket 939 board. So only dual core at 2 ghz I think?? 1.8? 1.9.

I should throw the card in my new 720 based system just to see how she performs . . .

That's the superclock edition btw. It's a good card. I put an aftermarket cooler on it - dropped the temps a ton, also made it silent - it's now in my silent computer. Here's a pic. And hell - a shot of the monstrosity that is the Scytche grand Kama cross. It's insane - yes that's a full ATX board. lol

The 8800 GTS 320mb card can still easily play BFBC2 just on lower settings.

I owned that card before. Let me just say that it's GREAT even today if you have a 1680x1050 or lower res monitor. Any higher and the amount of memory will severely limit the performance.

If you've got a 19-22" lower res monitor, I'd go for it. Getting a 1920x1200 caused me to upgrade.
