My System Specs

Default 2 5770's or 1 5850

From what I have found online I can get 2 5770's for the price of 1 5850.

What do you gurus think. Which is a better setup

upgrading from a 3870x2

Two 5770's will outperform a 5850. Their performance level is around a 5870 I believe. If you get a 5850 though you'll use less power and could upgrade to crossfire in the future. I'm actually wondering myself if I should get 2 5770's but can't decide...

I'd go with a single 5850, since the performance is quite acceptable for pretty much every game, even crysis (mix of high and very high settings, with 2x AA, ~35 fps).

And like headshot said: you can add another 5850 in the future and get incredible performance

I'd suggest 5850 for the sole reason that after you get those 2 5770, if you want more, you're stuck switching them both. However, if you had gotten the 5850, you can now go for double 5850 and get a nice boost :)
