Default GTX 480's arrived today, some benching.

Cards finally showed up today. Ordered them on Tuesday...showed up Friday.

I did some benching.....i920do @ 4.0 Ghz EVGA Classified X58, video cards at stock speeds.

This is one 480 Tess on Normal, sorry forgot to do extreme.

480 in Sli Tess Normal and Extreme runs.

Triple 480 Sli Normal and Extreme Tess

Some Vantage runs GTX 480 vs GTX 295

GTX 295 Sli'd

Single GTX 480 (429Watts max at the plug)

GTX 480 Sli (676 Watts max at the plug).

GTX 480 Triple Sli

According to the simple little power meter 900W peak pulled at the plug with triple sli, CPU was 4.0Ghz for all runs.

System seems to idle around 300Watts with triple Sli. Temps I viewed, seemed to max out around 91C with fan speed at about 70% when benching.

LOL...900W. That's a mean green machine right now, not just being Nvidia, but with the cash burning through your pockets haha. Did your stomach turn too?

That is going to be one costly beast of a folding machine whenever they get the kinks worked out

I hereby call all 300W TDP arguements BS. Unless the 3rd card is not used at ALL, that's <700W for 3 cards...

Yeah pretty nice all right...couldn't fathom dropping $1500 + BUT cudos to you man...nice work ;)

surprised that the Vantage Score didn't top 40K as my Tri Sli 280's were doing P34K ??!! and I know most Quad SLi 295's were doing P40+K.....huh....

btw...those Vantage Runs are default "Peformance Mode with PhysX enabled"...?...

Your System draw under load seems about what all have been looking at (900W)....good to know a Tri SLi 480 can get by on an HX 1kW ;)

Very cool....

Assuming that the GTX 400 series cards fold nicely, there will be a corresponding points jump for all the users once Stanford supports these cards.

Yes they were default settings. I will run some more Vantage. I was surprised about the tri sli score as well. But I wonder if the CPU is holding these things back?

If I recall correctly.... I think the GTX 295's sli'd pulled approx 738W during Vantage (entire computer).
