If you are hoping to see if it will work with a regular 8800GTS 640MB....that is already in process. We will be teaming up with another site to bring you the results.

The BIOS will be made available once we see if it will work on an regular 8800GTS 640MB. Expect compelte results and the BIOS file within the next few days.

If I'm not mistaking, th G80 chip on the SSC (the one reviewed by SKYMTL anyway) has the A2 core. Maybe only that A2 has the SPs that can be activated by the card's BIOS.
In the same thought, maybe the A3 is laser-cut/crippled/snipped and can't be soft-modded (don't get me wrong, I hope it does!!!! I could use the extra SPs).

well its a good card if you play with a resolution higher than 1280x1024

I'm curious to see how this would match up with the 8800GT if you oced it to the same core speed. More mem on the GTS but the shader clock diff will prob more than compensate. I think they will have drop the price on this for people to buy over the cheaper GT.

I think drawing parallels between this card and the GT is a bit of a mistake. Yes, the 8800GT is everyone's poster child right about now but for me its performance at higher resolution (1600x1200) in DX10 applications is paltry compared to the GTS...higher shader clock or not. The OCing of this card will have to wait a little longer because I have another GPU review that needs to be done ASAP. :(

Sall good man, was just curious bc I just bought a GT (that still isnt shipped) and I was questioning my decision. Great review as always tho. :)

I've read stuff on another forum about people who got the SSC BIOS file from somebody on the the EVGA forum, and they flashed. The thing is that it didn't change the SPs from 96 to 112. Bummer!

PPL tried on both cores (A2,A3) to no avail.

They also come with a weird conclusion (dunno what it's worth).

Some would say that the SSC core could be a GTX core with 16 sp disabled...But suggesting to try to flash to GTX BIOS seems REALLY RISKY...
I realize that both GTS and GTX are sharing the same G80.

But the question is: what do you think?
