today all the 8800GT's went up to 280/290 on DC. Thats sucks, i may end up buying a 1 week old 2900XT 512mb for $215 shipped. You guys think the 8800GT is worth the extra money?

If you don't mind waiting a little... NCIX has 2 for ~$270. Definitely worth it.

BFG GeForce 8800GT OC

Gigabyte GeForce 8800GT

If you want one, you better act fast...there selling like hotcakes.. and as supply dwindles.. the prices will go up.

Or, you could wait to see how well ATi's offering performs, it's due in a few weeks.

Here's an ASUS in stock for $249. I've never done business with pccanada.com before though...

Premier Computer Canada

Anyway, I'm just glad I got my 8800GT for so *cheap. Should come in on Monday.

Yea im waiting for the 3870 as well. I think its going to be a really good performer because nVidia has already launched some fake benches showing the 8800GT being 30% faster. Thats a fear tactic if iv ever seen one. Plus I really want an ATI card. Iv been with nvidia for a few years now, and I feel that ATI has superior image quality, plus overall their more aesthetically pleasing. If worse comes to worse the 3870 will be just as fast as the 8800GT yet more future proof due to dx10.1 support.

Anyone who thinks that ATI will pull ahead is foolish. Everybody thought the 2900's were gonna be good and they aren't. ATI will release their next card and nvidia will pull the trump card again

how are the 2900's not good? if ati would get their act together and actually make a good driver, they could eliminate most of their problems.
