Default EVGA Step-up Program Question

I just bought a BFG 8800gtx from tddirect.ca though I just realized geforce 9 is coming out Q4 '07.

Should I have gone with the EVGA 8800gtx instead, to qualify for the top of the line 9 series card (since it would be within 90 days)?

Seems like a cheap way to get a brand new, top of the line card.

If anyone has information on this, I would really appreciate it

I have done the Step-Up once before and it is a great service but you have to take a few things into account. Once shipping, duties and the price difference between the cards is taken into account, you will almost be better off selling your card on RFD or here on HWC.

Default not too sure

I think the G92 GTX is out 1st quarter 08.

There should be a G92 GTS out soon, this will probably be around the same performance as the GTX and inherit its extra OC headroom.

The 8800GTX still manages crysis pretty well if you dont bother with AA at 1680*1050, its a solid card. But the G92GTX will likely be a fair bit better for the same price. Just enjoy your GTX for the next 6months, sell it and upgrade to the G92GTX if you really feel the need to.

Sounds pretty easy, thanks you two.

I never realized people actually bought old components...sweet!

There's only one person I know who used this program (My dad's friend) and he had a terrible experience. Just make sure you take into account, as mentioned, the cost and shipping time.
