GTX 480 & 470...are you buying one

I have read the reviews, seen the testing and the ridiculous pricing over and above the MRSP which is usually set at a higher than expected retail price by most manufacturer's. It seems as though the retailers are encouraging the manufacturer's to suppress the MRSP as it opens the doors for price gouging. In answer to the question, I won't be buying any new cards at this point in time.
Reason ... Nvidia has already stated they will be coming out with a GTX 580 sometime this summer of 2010 .... with an MRSP that will be the same as the present GTX 480 ! Keep in mind it was not long ago that the 7950 card sold for 700 and now has a resale value of less than a hundred if you can find anyone that wants to buy one. Now with all this said and done, a dedicated gameplayer like PS3 can be had for half the cost of one of these boards and you can bet your booty that the manufacturing costs are less than 50 bucks.

I guess I say (e). While it is tempting I am staying with my GTX295 a while longer. Since I already have huge power consumption and heat generation I don't see the need to "upgrade" at all!

Going to keep my eyes on both team red and team green though, it is fun to watch!

I'll go with e) here, at this point in time, I don't see the need for an upgrade. I can still play my games to my liking with my 4850 in Xfire. One of the thing I am enjoying with my current setting is that my 4850 are passively cooled thus making my rig pretty low in the noise department. I've read that the Vapor X edition is relatively good in this regard so I might eventually go that route. I don't like a GPU that sound like a turbo jet engine when its fan is required to spine at high velocity.

Undecided at this point, but likely a 470 or 5850.

Will monitor the forums for a little bit after the 470 release to see what peoples experiences are.

I'm only running dual monitors in 16x10, and I have an XFX 5850 BE that is absolutely dominant for anything I could throw at it. I was running XFire, but I sold one, and will eventually followed by this one so I can switch to a single 5870 or possibly a 5890 if/when they come available.

(b) for me. Definitely buying an ATI card, probably the 5870 within a month. Don't feel like melting my rig with a fermi :P
