Heatsink that is compatible with Radeon 4870 and Radeon 5850?

Because of the high prices of the Radeon 5850 at the moment, I'm tempted to just get the 4870 just to use until the prices of the 5850 drops. My little brother is using an ancient Geforce 8600. While the prices of the 4870 are not at an all-time low, it's still low enough for me to consider and it still performs great with the latest games like BF: BC2. I'm going to use it to power my dual 24" LCDs with 1920x1200 resolution. The cards that I intend to get will be using the reference AMD design. I want to get a replacement cooler to reduce the amount of noise that will be created. My question here is whether there are any replacement coolers on the market that will fit both the Radeon 4870 and 5850?

I'm not interested in the 5870. So I guess it doesn't fit the 5850?

i have one but havent tried it on the 5850. i say stick with what you have and buy a bit later or get soemthing used, like 75-100$

Thermalright T-Rad2, Accelero Twin Turbo and Scythe Musashi are all compatible on 5850/5870 with one caveat:

58x0 VRM cooling. You would need to add Thermalright VRM-R3, VRM-R4, or VRM-R5 to cool the VRMs on the 5850/5870s as they can run very hot and cause the card to run into power errors under extremely stressful benchmarks.

I plan to buy these VRM coolers for my XFX 5870 which has developed an extra vibration on the fan. It hasn't affected cooling, but it's become fairly noisy and groans a fair bit, and I'm not in the mood to RMA it, as the card itself is flawless.

If I can, I'll post some photos, as I have a Thermalright T-Rad2 and Scythe Musashi on hand.

The Zalman VF1000 will work on both.

I'd probably take the GV1000 over the VF1000 because the GV has higher fan speed and slightly improved cooling because of it. Either way I find them both loud.
