Default NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 Roundup Comment Thread

If you weren’t pay close attention to the GPU market a few months ago, you may have missed the launch of the GT 240 series since the launch wasn’t preceded by any of the usual marketing or release day fireworks. As such, not much attention has been paid to this card but in this roundup we take a look at six cards from four of NVIDIA’s board partners.

From a folding perspective the OP looks to be somewhere between a 9600GSO and a 9800GT. How does the price/availability compare to the standard cheap GSOs?

Availability is good, as is the price but the real winner is the efficiency.

Efficency and in most cases quiet running operation.

A step up really from the GSO's and 9600GT's.

WTH? That's the first time where I saw 1GB models perform worse than the 512MB version. Coincidence?

Anyway, great efficiency and overall a great little card on a tight budget.

No, alot comes down to memory speed. Check out GDDR5 provides amazing bandwidth and partially helps to elevate the 512MB cards' performance.

Not sure if it's totally applicable here, but it's also worth noting that higher-capacity memory chips, even at the same speed, are often slower due to increased latency (hence why 1GB cards usually beat their 2GB counterparts)

I always enjoy reading your reviews, I always learn something new. However, whenever my friends ask me, "How does this card do in Crysis?", I'll also Always have to look somewhere else, why is that? Why can't we have Crysis FPS too?
