Default Fair RMA repalcement?

BFG sent me a 9800 GT OC+ to replace my defective 8800 GTS 512 MB (G92)

Should I be happy with this exchange?

It's a small downgrade:

8800 GTS 512:
128 Stream Processors
650 MHz Core
1940 MHz Memory

9800 GT 512:
112 Stream Processors
? MHz Core
? MHZ Memory

I don't know the exact numbers for the BFG OC edition.

if it were me i would be kinda annoyed,

ok so the card they gave you is a more efficient and i would say should run cooler than the 8800 since it's a 55nm chip instead of a 65...
oh wait,, u may want to confirm what they gave you cause they put both g92's on the 9800...

i would be annoyed cause the 8800 had 128 stream shaders and the 9800 only has 112,
so if your a folder or well a person in general who cares about performance than i think they just gave you something of the equal value at the time but lesser performing.

so i would bitch at them.

anyway just my thoughts, if anyone disagrees then let me know, im curious of others opinions :)

I wouldn't be satisfied either.
Equal or Trade me up, sure, but down?
I'd let them know as they might not even realize that they sent you a slightly lower card (thanks for re-branding and numbering nVidia) after all "9800" sounds like it might be faster than "8800".

yea, i would just message them back and complain,, or well state your strong opinion before you open and use the card and hope they are understanding and willing to properly compensate you.

I think what we have here is a case of "Baffled by their own bull5hit" product naming schemes. It sounds like an upgrade. That, or they hope you are technically ignorant.

haha nice, so they are still making you work for it by making you call a different area,
maybe you'll be lucky and be able to keep what they sent you and get better card as well.
if they send you a 9800gtx it will end up being a gts250 which is not a bad deal.
unless they have refurbed gtx's around then in which case i hope they send you a gtx+.
runs cooler and i think smaller die. :)

So I complain to BFG an they instruct me ship the 9800 GT back to them. I do so at my expense and you will never guess what card they send me as a replacement.......

A 9800 GT OC. The same model card that I had just sent back.
