GTX 260 (196 sp) enough for todays games

Well I know my GTX 260 is starting to show its' age. But compared to ATI's new 5830.
Even after reading this review from another site:

At all resolutions under Crysis Warhead ATI's new 5830 GPU Vs A GTX260 Only a few FPS are seperating the two. And I know i can Overclock mine to at least 700Mhz on the Core so it puts it very close to the performance of a GTX 275;)
So I am wondering aside from the DX11 support, What would be a good GPU to upgrade to?
I am looking for the new budget Overclock King? I really havn't had the time to read up on all of ATI's offerings or what Nvidia is really offering. But I really don't have alot of cash these days. Being a father of two little kids really takes almost all of my money. But who holds the new Budget Overclock Gaming Performance crown?!
Thanx for your help. I plan on getting what I can get fo rmy GTX260, Then put up the rest of the cash to get what I can. So please give good advice. Links to support your views or thoughts would really help.

Well I say the 5850 is probably your best bet. If you want to save some money you could wait till the end of this month/early next month to see if ATI does a price drop.

lol it's crysis, it kills almost every card and even my visiontek 5850 can barely handle it

don't need to worry about those crazy games which are probably tweaked bad

No the 260 core 216 wins some, ties some, and slightly looses some. The 5830 would be an aweful upgrade. The 5850 on the other hand would be great just the prices may come down when nvidia releases their new cards so waiting is the best option right now Imho

The 260 216 is a pretty solid card. I'm sure the 192 isn't too far behind. The only game I couldn't play with it was Crysis, and Warhead on all settings Enthusiast on my native res of 1920*1080.

I recently upgraded to a 5850, and yes there is a significant difference. Was it worth $300?

If you're like me and revel in unnecessary excess, then yes. Otherwise, save your money until Fermi is released. Unless you’re about to replay Crysis or pick up Bad Company 2 and want all settings high, with anti-aliased pubic hairs, then go for the 5850/5870.

Are you playing any games that your current card is having trouble keeping up in? If not, then you don't need to upgrade. All you have to worry about is whether your card is good enough for your needs, not whether it's the best budget card you can get.

well it depends on what resolution and eye candy settings you need to game at. i wouldnt buy today, wait for fermi to come out and get better prices out of ati :)

a 260.. old? XD - if you're having issues with a 260 (275) not providing enough beef then you should be investing in a 5870 or something.

but I agree with everyone else here and at least wait for fermi.

Hey I know some people still have enough performance on a 8800 Ultra to play every game and most games at decent settings too. I bet tri-sli 8800 Ultra is still very good for lower resolutions.
