4870 and 3870 Value?

Well I had a look on shopbot.ca, and the cheapest (new) 4870 I found is $160. Don't forget if you want that new card you'll have to add on taxes and shipping, and now you're looking at $185 or so.

Well I think the issue is more that you can get a HD5770 with DX11 and brand new, for roughly the same price as a HD4870 brand new. Granted it may be a tad slower, but people want new things with more future-support and a warranty.

HD3870 is pretty useless these days, I don't think it was even that great of a card to begin with TBH, but maybe like $50 shipped for that?

HD4870 512MB, I think $100 shipped is reasonable. If you had the 1GB version, you'd probably be able to get the $130.

Used PC hardware depreciates rapidly, and usually you either cut your losses or just keep it around for backup or to give to a friend or something. Me personally, I just keep it. Really not worth it in the end to sell it IMO. I know at some point I'll end up using it, or put it in a build for somebody else.

From what I've read the 1Gb version is no better then the 512mb. However there's a good performance increase if you jump to a 4890.

I don't want to keep these cards because I know I won't use them. They'll just sit and collect dust. I'm going to a 58XX series card, and the other 4870 I have replaced the 3870 in the second rig here.

I have an old Radeon 9250 PCI card I can use as a backup since THAT card isn't worth the hassle to try and sell. Although it can't play Crysis, it'll still get me out of a pinch!

Anyhow I have the cards posted for sale now. If someone doesn't agree with my price then....... it's a free country. They can make me an offer.
