Default Evga 295 - Question for gamers

Alright so I have an EVGA 295 card and it works great but I do have an issue for 1 game.

When I play Dawn Of War II it will crash after awhile - Hits 106 and stays around there.
-Screen goes black and then I must reboot.

Any other DoW players experiencing this? Im not sure if the drivers dont like the game or and a video card issue.

Thanks

I've played with a GTX295 for a little while before I sold it, (experienced microstutter, like most dualGPU setups). It never completely crashed on me though. What are your system specs, and operating system?

Win 7
i7 920 2.6 - Has coolit system freezone elite
6gig DDR3 Patriot Ram
EVGA 295
Asus P6T Deluxe

Thanks for the help, its random when it happens and I will just get a black screen. I can still hear whats going on but the monitor like, looses connection to the GPU.

hmm, that's strange indeed. Firstly, please OC that 920, it's killing me knowing she's basically stock :(. But more importantly, I think this may just be an issue with DoW, not the card itself. I never experienced this sort of thing when I used a 295. Also, you're running W7? is it x86 or x64?

As in hits 106c? If thats the case its shutting down due to heat.

OH wow, yeah I didn't notice that, i thought he was mentioning his FPS or something. Yeah man, if you're getting 106 degrees C on your core, you got a heat problem. You may need to dissasemble, clean and reapply some decent TIM.

Holy crap. 106C, ya man wayyyyy too hot. I'm surprised it's not dead yet. And yes please OC that 920 especially if you've got a freezone elite hooked up to it!

Don't tear your $600 Card apart (and VOID the Lifetime Warranty ) I would be curious to know:
1. What is your GPU Fan running at? If "Auto" try setting it to Manual 75-80% while Gaming and check your Temps. Evga Precision works very well for both setting Fan Speed and monitoring the Temps while "in game" (OSD) 7 what are your "idle Temps"
2. What Driver Version?
3. What Case are you using? Any of the "high Performance" GPU's require very good "Air Intake" directly to and specific for the GPU and of course they'll Exhaust that same Air out the back.
I use a Silverstone Temjin TJ09 (Case) with a dedicated GPU Cooler, that being a 120mm 1900 RPM Scythe Fan "supplying" fresh air directly to all GPU's.

If adjusting Fan Speeds and providing optimal Air doesn't cure your heat problem, STILL, don't disassemble and apply TIM, contact Evga and set up an RMA and they'll replace the Card

taking off the HSF won't void warranty since it's an EVGA card....
