Default Sup guys new here need som card help.

I have a Dell XPS 700 and I wanted to do some upgrading to it. I really wanted to get a video card first as I mostly use it for gaming. It has a 6400 @ 2.13 dou core cpu and 2gb of ram. I will be getting 6 gb of ram from a friend soon so that's getting a free fix. Now I was wondering if I upgraded the card would it be useless because of the CPU? Also I was wondering since I was looking into the cards already would the 5770 be a good card to get at this point or sit and wait for something that's coming out soon. The max I would dish out would have to be about 200-250. Also the lifetime warranty is something I would like to have. I know this is kinda a long read but I appreciate any help that will hopefully be giving.

What's the video card in it right now? And the PSU? Also, Dell's notorious for only running enough power leads from their PSU's to service what they come with. So you may find yourself upgrading that first.

As for the CPU, it's certainly not the fastest on the block, but with a medium GPU, you should still be able to do some average gaming with it. Are you able to OC it at all? Or are you stuck with a crap Dell 'locked down' BIOS? I wouldn't go crazy on the GPU, but even a cheap 4850 1gb card would be decent if you can find one. If you can find a 4870 1Gb used for a good deal you're golden.

What is the power of your PSU. don't forget than for put 6 gb you need a 64 bits OS. The CPU should handle a 5770

a note : changing the CPU can be a problem. I want to switch the quad 6700 for my XPS 420. and the few info about the BIOS , let me think I can't put the dual core I have for it. it will be an downgrade in my case. I will put the quad to an better use other place.

You'll see a bottleneck even with many of the mainstream cards available. However, that would be alleviated if you managed to get your E6400 in the 3.2GHz+ region.

I check it ..your system have a 750 watts PSU.... Man that's a hell of CPU, my q6600 have only a 420 and it come with a 8800GT ......from what I read no OC. even with a fake option to turnit on in the Bios. do they ungraded to OC after the review I read ????

the Oc look impossible. bottle neck.. every PC have a bottle neck.. we have to know what will be the effect here. He will certainly gain performance from the card he have to a 5770 ..
