My son just picked up one of these:
Canada Computers - Video Cards > PCI-Express Cards > Powered By ATI : Sapphire Vapor-X ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon HD 5770 Chipset Dual Display Dual DVI/HDMI/Display Port PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card.
DX11 and very affordable.

Agreed. 5770 ~ 4870, for about the same price, but with newer tech (and less power consumption and heat output).

5830 would be a better choice, though i currently own an HD5770....i have no complaints, very affordable, mine OC'd well over 1ghz...and at stock i can play most games on highest settings, on my 19" LCD...when i get my 24" things might change a bit...but it shouldn't be too bad...

I'm interested to see how these two cards will compare. I mean ATI already has almost every pricepoint covered. I might switch from the 5770 to the 5830 just depends how much better it really is. But so far with the 5770 I have no complaints as it's very cool, quiet, and good performance in the games I've tried.

you wont experience gains of more than 5-10% depending on the game, I wouldn't do an upgrade that small. But to each his own :)
