Default Sapphire HD 5850 1GB HD 5770 1GB Review Comment Thread

ATIís HD 5000 series have been burning up the GPU sales charts as of late with their near-flawless combination of price, performance and efficiency. The HD 5850 and HD 5770 have been particularly popular with gamers who are looking at cards that wonít break the bank but offer enough horsepower to play any of todayís games. In this review we take a look at two such cards from Sapphire.

I am amazed that the HD 4890 kept up with the 5850 on a lot of the tests and blew the 5770 out of the water on all the benchmarks. For a price difference of $10-15 USD why would anyone get the 5770 over the 4890? Unless you really want DX11 support.

Nice review, but isn't it a bit late? You did do a 5850 review in November

Did you really use the 9.11 beta's? The 9.12's and the later hotfix to them drastically improved performance of the 5 series cards.

Great review. I just received my card Monday, I moved up from a 9600GT. What a difference in everygame that I've played. I put in crysis (...I know) and it so much smoother. Even Silent hill homecoming is running better. I'm pumped for bioshock 2, that game is going to look great. Have you guys thought about doing an article about overclocking the 5850? With programs like MSI afterburner and the lot I think it'd be an interesting addition.

Sorry, slight error there. Should have read 9.11 WHQL.

And no, the 9.12 drivers did NOT improve performance in any cards other than the HD 5970.

Nope. Old test system. Will be upgraded to the new benchmarking suite before the next review.

As stated in the review, there was no reason for me to review a product that isn't available. The HD 5850 is now available so the review was now posted live.

Odd, I saw a 5% increase in Vista x64 with my 5850.
