Default Thinking about Radeon 2600 XT

I'm thiinking about upgrading my Radeon X1600 XT to the Sapphire Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB GDDR3 128-bit. The card is $117.72 at DC.

Eventually I will purchase another for Crossfire

Default shoot for the 2900pro

If you can try and rustle up some more dollars see if you can get the pro. I think the extra money will more than payoff in terms of future-proofing. Plus I bet they overclock nicely and it will give your nice new system something to chew on. I know $150 is a lot extra and this suggestion may not be that helpful but you got a good price on your old gear to fund the new. I suppose it depends on your monitor though as the 2600XT probably runs very nice at lower res.

Default 2600XT

well i guess if you play at 1280 or 10*** then the 2600 is a good bet. Im sure it would work very well for your needs and its a good price.

Its just that with the core2power and 2900pro being "best" value its a tough-call for me. Then again im sitting here with a bottlenecked 8800GTx!! so im no expert

Either ways your in a good situation. Price of performance has dropped so much in the last year and you bought in at a good time!

Well to be honest you wouldn't see a huge improvement. That 2900 pro looks really good but for a lot more money. Maybe a 1950pro but then it doesn't have DX10 and it is still pretty expensive.

X1950 XT will be a more practical improvement, but the 2600XT is some great value for money, I have to say!
