To buy a 5850 or not to buy... pulling my hair out over this

Right now it seems as if the hd5's are getting some stock... I was wondering if a price-fall is imminent, with the gt300's just around the corner and stocks rising? Right now, I've found some sleeving stuff and a dvd drive in my cart with newegg, and I was considering adding in a xfx 5850 since I've been considering buying one, there's the 15% back offer with PP (which I'm not entirely sure works), and to carpool my order to make it worth the shipping fee. The 5850 total price would come out to $320. Lots of people are still buying these cards, but I've got a feeling that they've all got lots of money to blow (which I don't) so I don't mind getting the card a few months later (completely optional upgrade/purchase), as long as there isn't a huge price fall right after it arrives

-m4a79t deluxe
-4gigs 1333mhz c9
-tx750
-gtx260 (the 4870x2 deal fell apart.. too good to be true? probably is...)
-aiming for 20fraps
-play lots of fps, especially 'non-ported' games like crysis

So do you guys think I should buy it now or wait, and why? Thanks.

when i tried the pp cash back thing, on the paypal screen it says "this sale you will get 0$ back!"
so i dont think it works, just newegg is being nasty and not saying they ran through all the money to worm out a few extra sales.

Assuming people have money to blow wold be a mistake. Very few do. However, some enthusiasts like myself, go ahead with items like this, buying and selling parts for a nominal upgrade fee. I have very few other extravagancs, but the new 5850 was one of those "I've gotta try one of these". So, if you can resist, then wait. imho, you wouldn't be asking otherwise.

P.S. Sure I have to cut back a bit on the crack, heroin, snow, ludes etc,. for a bit , but WHT! LOL!

I have the money to buy a 5850 right now, I just don't have the money to buy one now, and then sell it to buy a gtx360 in a few months, and then sell that to buy a hd6850. I'll have to get a job at CC before I can do that

Just go get your ATI 5850 and call it a day. It'll be great with your Phenom II system. What resolution do you game at?

I see Infonec has the 5850 on for $289.99 Cdn until Wednesday. Anyone dealt with them?

E-mailed Newegg to see if they would price match but nothing back from them yet. I see the card is now becoming more and more commonly available but the price is still far to high, especially with how close we are to the American buck.

Just got an e-mail back from Newegg - according to them, they do not price match but they did offer me $15 off their regular $319.99 price.

Went to NCIX and asked for a price match from them. Now awaiting confirmation of the price match (cross yer fingers).
