Default New Video Card

So I am in the hunt for a new Video Card. I was thinking between a GTX275 or one of the 5XXX,4XXX. The 5XXX,4XXX series confuses me though, I am not really sure which ones are the good ones. Any suggestions or help would be awesome =)

I play Wow on full settings, DragonAge, COD:MW2 and i wanna play FF when it comes out.

IMHO, the 5 Series should be your only consideration if you do not plan on waiting around to see what nVidia will have. Just purchase the fastest 5 Series you can afford.

Edit: What is "FF" ?

with the ati cards, the first number is the generation, so 4xxx is 4th, 5xxx is 5th.

the second number indicate the strength or something... just know this, the higher the number on the ati card, generally the better.

I'm also surprised no one has asked you at what resolution you'll be playing at as well, since if you play at a lower or certain resolutions you may not be getting the full potential/benefit of a 275 and could go with a cheaper GTX260 or 'lower end' 5xxx series card.

Price is ~300 max.

Resolution is ( I am at work and i never really played around with my resolution because its a old card so i am taking a guess ) 1280-900
I would like a better resolution though because I had a really old card

Sorry should included this in my starter post

What size monitor do you have, is it an LCD or a CRT, and is it 4:3 or widescreen (16:9 or 16:10)?

Well, at that resolution, a 5770 should do pretty well. If you want to upgrade, say 1920 x 1200 or so, try to find a 5850. They're scarce but great, and they're just around $300.
