Default Ati 5770 3-Way vs Ati 5870 Single ?

So my uncle wants me to build him a gaming pc, he only really wants it for gaming im going to make it slightly like mine but i cant think of the graphics card/s to get theres no way in hell is he getting a 5870 asi cant even get another full myself after hrs of googling though stores.

So what would be better -

3x 5770's or 1x 5870 ?
Would like 770's be better performace then a single 5870 ?
If so does anyone have benchmarks for it as i cant seem to find any

Wrong-O. The 5-series scales to three cards quite nicely actually.
Here's a review link: Radeon HD 5770 review

OMG Thats amazing the ATI 5770 Is so underated
2x 5770 = 1x 5870 = You save about $100
3x 5770 = Pwnz the 1x 5870 and only a little bit extra.

The more cards you add in CF, the more annoyed you'll be with the issues.

The problem with multiple GPUs is when there are games that don't play nice with more than one GPU so you only get the performance of just a 5770. Then there are games that require more power than the 5770 can handle like Crysis, Farcry 2, Dawn of Discovery and anything with high end visuals the 3x 5770 will only perform like a 5870 or worse. It isn't that bad but if you could wait for a 5870 or 5850.
