Default returning 5870 what to buy?

Well my 5870 has been having a problem that it whines in games. I was told by ncix tech support to rma it but they are out of stock and I don't want to wait weeks to get a bew gpu. I am either thinking of buying some evga card and stepping up to fermi but also would like a vapor x 5870 or a 5970. Which should I get and when could I expect the vapor or 5970 to be released?

The card whining isn't really going to change. Only thing you can do is switch to a different card and hope that you don't have the same problem. For the record, don't expect to avoid it by going with an nVidia card, since those tend to whine even more than ATI ones (my GTX260 whines quite a bit, but I've learned to ignore it). Your best bet in my opinion would be to get a replacement 5870 and hope that you're lucky enough to get one that doesn't whine too badly.

that's may be why some card do it more. ( a big MAY ) don'T know but if not on the same rail it can make a noise ( I means an electric one ) but on an other hand, it will not balance the PSU to put in on the same rail, don,t know but will like to know.. may be an other tread

Can't you just put up with the whine until they come back in stock?

well...if she whine and you change for a Nvidia card you wont drop the problem. Nvidia are bigger whiner or sqeeler compare to ATI. I think you are better to send it to me and I send you a 4870 Keep the card and wait for more stock then send it in RMA. Be warned, I have send many time card to different palce because of this and some time they have declined the RMA, depend on the employee you get:P

Ask for more.

Dude... if you're just looking for something to hold you. You're in town, who knows, you may just be up the street from my house!

Stop by my place and I'll sell you my Single Slot Sapphire 3870 for $25. Twenty if you bring me a Medium Steeped Tea with 1 milk.

Cheers!
