Default Dedicated PhysX... Shall i bother ?

Ill have a ATi 5870 on a EVGA x58 board & i7 @4.5ghz
Do i need a PhysX card ?
Do they make me get a better frame rate ?

I have been looking at - EVGA 01G-P3-N981-TR GeForce 9800GT 1024MB DDR3 PCIE on eBay (end time 12-Nov-09 07:21:31 GMT)

Also will this give me around 2gb of gpu memory in total if i add this ?

Most games do not use physx so it isn't worth it but for the games that do use it and if you play them a lot then it is worth it because you get a very large performance boost.

using ATI eh,

i won't bother, the time and troubleshoot for something so minimum like fog/steams is not worth it.

Unless there is such a GREAT GAME(to die for) thats unplayable without phyx, then hell yes.

But as of right now, there really isn't anything out there that uses it really well. Excluding Batman. And even then, you don't need the perfomance boost. That game runs like silk on pretty much any machine already. It wouldn't be a horrible waste, but it's not super important right now.

Newegg.ca - EVGA 512-P3-N975-TR GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit DDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards is a similar card on new egg but with only 512mb ram, and $30 cheaper than the ebay card.

Those are terrible prices, you should be able to find an 8800/9800 for under $70 used.

You're a nub? Oh god. Don't even bother. It involves cracked drivers and other things, not for the inexperienced.

Do not try it if you don't know computers well.
