Default Gigabyte GTX 275 Super Overclock Review Comment Thread

I don't really have anything witty to say about this one other than the fact that Gigabyte broke my heart by releasing this card so late into the game.

What's funny is the fact that it outperforms the GTX 285 on almost all fronts. That definitely shows that the MHz counts.

But yes, too little too late. HD 5850 is where it's at right now.

I'm not one for economics, but why bother? I don't understand why they would knowingly release a card that isn't competitive, and also release it at a higher price point. The only thing it might have going for it is a shortage of 5850's, but if I was in the market for a new card I'm sure I could wait for the next batch of 5850's then to buy one of these.
I guess there's always brand loyalty( a.k.a fanboy's =P).

I guess if folding and PhysX is your bent then it is a viable option. Otherwise yes, it does seem a bit redundant.

Pity it's so expensive. Would have made a great out-of-the-box folder (the only real reason these days to select Nvidia over ATI).

omg, it nearly matches my EVGA 275. Must...have...this card so I can SLI and fold! Is it going up for sale for the heart and stroke fund?

The card isn't available for sale.

As for the economics of this thing, I personally think they sunk alot into development and binning the cores / memory so they need to have something to show. As I said, even at $250 it would be an amazing value but I don't think Gigabyte can go that low.

Great review as usual. One quick note on page 3: right column of specs table states GTX 260 instead of GTX 275.

At this price point, I'd much prefer a HD5850.
