...Case in point. On Sat Oct 17 I placed an order with Direct Canada for a mess of parts including an ASUS HD5870. All in stock, confirmation e-mail rec'd, order confirmed, all in stock. On Monday the video card is B/O

I'm still waiting.......

Nobody has these cards now. I looked at all the Canadian e-tailers and all of them are out o' stock. There's nothing more frustrating than staring at a nice pile of parts on the dining room table and not being able to do anything because of a missing key component,... moan.... whine.... sniffle..... I'll go away now ..rant over

Picked up a Powercolor HD5850 yesterday from a local brick and mortor, I'll CF it when more become available and the price levels out.

I guess if anyone REALLY wants one, I think TigerDirect.ca has some at just a hair under 400$!

For the record...

After reading Overclockers XFX 5850 review (XFX HD 5850 Review - Overclockers Club), grabbed AMD GPU Tool and cranked my Gigabyte 5850 to 850 / 1150 and then ran FurMark for an hour while I watched the Leafs' defence fumble around. Temps were great and I picked up 12 min fps in the FarCry 2 Bench. Now I just have to figure out how to keep the settings after re-boot.

The stock 5850s may be scarce, but when the Overclocked and Custom Cooled versions launch, I daresay those are going to go fast as well because the headroom on this card is crazy without even doing any board changes!

Cheers!

Good to hear, I was beginning to think I had an OCing dud with my XFX 5870.Id use CCC and crank the sliders to 900/1300 (max OC option with CCC) and the bloody thing would lock up on me even 2mhz oc on either gpu or the ram lol.

The place I got my card from just got 6 more Sapphire cards in. They're now out of the Asus ones as my car had 2 in it when I left.
