Pci-Express 1.1/2.0/3.0

I was going to upgrade my video card but what's the point my motherboard runs Pci-express 1.1.Does bandwith really matter that much when i'm only playing games that i buy,i don't online game.I realize that they are backward compatible but in theory am i only using half the power of my video card?I read an article that they are working on Pci-express 3.0.I blink and my computer is out of date.
