The OP never mentions anything about gaming, just if a good quality 700W PSU could power 2 GTX295s

It won't last long....if your going to drop a G Note on a couple of 295's be wise about the PSU...for gods sake throw a good 1kW in thier...."pinch pennies and watch the dollars sail by".....good God ..

Where's Sky

I get a kick out of these "Will it run" PSU Threads...yeah if you put diesel in a gas car or vice versa...it will run...for awhile / briefly, but we all know what will eventually happen...

Agreed, Power Supplies are cheaper than new cards!

Bah, FEFOX! You got a Kill-a-watt meter? I'd like to have a bit more proof....

I do know that over the years a PSU will put out less and less power, so...

belgolas September 21, 2009 06:58 PM

I would say ya it could but why on earth if you are buying 2 of the highest GPU's to date and then gimp the power supply. Why not just go with a quality 1000watt PSU and have a bit of room for the future?

It's enough as long as you don't overclock anything, but you'd be right on the limit. You'd be pushing about 500W load from the two GTX295s, which would leave just enough power for everything else. Definitely not a great idea though. I'd suggest at least an 850W PSU, and preferably 1kW.
