Default Thinking of "upgrading"

Alright so here's the scoop:

I've got 2x 4870's in crossfire, both running 24/7 stable @ 4890 reference clocks (a bit higher actually, 860/960).

I want to sell 'em and buy a single card. What card should I get (or be able to afford) from the cash I get from these.

Please note: PSU is no issue, but vid card length IS (9.5" max)

Thanks.

Lol... from you expressing the 9.5" length specifically! You want ATI or nVidia? Maybe you'll get enough cash to buy a GTX 275! They go for as little as $ 212

The 275's are 10.5" unfortunately.

Unfortunatly you can't consider Nvidia's offering because even the GTX 260 is 10.5in, so you need to stick with ATI and as far as I'm concerned the HD4890 is the same size as the HD4870, but I don't think you want to downgrade from an Xfire 4870 to a single 4890.

I don't think the 4870X2 qualifies as a single card, does it ?

I'm pretty sure I can fit a 10.5" card in my acrylic case, if I move the radiator that's in the way. Heck, if the power plugs on the nvidia series all come out of the side and not the end(like Ati), I'm sure I could fit a 10.5" card with no problems.

and a 4870x2, in my eyes, counts as 2 cards... I'd like a single gpu.

How much do you think I'd get for my amazing clocking 4870's?

If I were you I'd wait for the 5870's to appear. What's motivating you to upgrade and get a single gpu anyhow? Future build plans? A desire to just switch brands? Boredom? lol

the nvidia 200 series cards all have the power slots on the side and not the end. Id go with a gtx 285 or wait for the new 300series or the new 5800 series. 5800s should be coming out some time around q4 and the 300s in q1 2010, judging by the multiple threads of this in multiple forums.
