My gtx 260 at 710/1420/1200 idles at 40C and max loads at 80C but average loads at 65-70C. But yeah, keep it under 90C and your good to go.

Yeah its kind of weird. The 260 I had rarely went above 60c, and the 9800gtx and and GTS 250 I have rarely go above 65c, which is why the 80c temps of the 285s I have got me worried at first. But some research on the web leads me to believe that the 80c temps are normal for stock cooling with the fan speeds turned up. Replacing the TIM might get some better temps.

I look at EUEs on overclocked folding cards.... so far none at 90C temps for some GTX260s

Normally they sit at around 65...

The 90 temp card is the "unfortunate" one in the TRI SLI setup.

Why are your guys video cards so hot? My GTS 250 runs at 50 celcius with 0% fan on idle.

Higher end cards get hotter, especially dual GPU ones. Before I put my 8800 ultras under water they got very toasty, the first one hit 104C in 3dmark before I put an aftermarket cooler on it. Now under water, 48 idle, 55 Load.

I'm pretty sure you can't set your fan to 0%
