Default nVidia GTX 275 or ATI Radeon 4870

Well, right now I'm building a rig that'll be used for gaming/photoshop/folding.
And the issue is, I'm not 100% sure which GPU I want...
I've always been an nVidia kinda person, but right now the ATI cards are looking great as well.
I've narrowed down to these two cards:
EVGA nVidia GTX 275 896MB

and

Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB

The real issue is between which I want. Other suggestions are of course warranted, just trying to keep the price of the card under the $300 mark.

Does anyone have personal use of these cards that can at least give me an idea of which would be the better buy overall for what I'm looking at?

Thanks in advance everyone!

If you are going to be folding and want the most pdd your going to want to stick with nVidia since it folds better and runs into less EUEs

Well the GTX275 is more powerful than a 4870 but it is also more money. The real comparison should be GTX275 to 4890 which trade blows head to head and are about the same money.

NCIX.com - Buy XFX Radeon HD 4890 XT 1GB 875MHZ 1GB 3.9GHZ GDDR5 PCI-E 2XDVI HDTV Video Card - HD489AZDEC In Canada.

Both are great cards. I have a GTX260 that I am really happy with. But then again I also have Xfired 4870's and those are great too Whatever is the better buy I would say.

If you're folding, 275 hands down.

NVIDIA GTX275 or GTX 260 Core 216. Don't go ATI since you're going to fold.

What CPU and LCD monitor are you going to pair the GPU with? And I myself see no point in investing in SSDs. A few more seconds or a couple of FPS drop won't kill you. That's my opinion anyways.

I recommend you wait another few weeks and pick up one of the new generation DX11 ATI Radeon 5000-series cards. If you MUST purchase a card today, get a 4890.

Now I don't Fold, however, every single Folder on here swears by the nVidia Cards for Folding, which I would believe them as many of them run both Brands, so why would you go against the grain and state to the OP ATI? Just curious is all....is it simply because you use ATI...or something I'm missing...I notice you don't Fold with yours either.....
Just curious is all as the OP did state "Folding"...

What on earth is Phenom II 665??? Btw, be sure to buy XFX branded cards as they give you the best warranty of all the ATI manufacturers.

665 is the 3.4Ghz stock AM3 CPU (Newest out)
And since I fold, and the rest is peanuts, I'll be grabbin the nVidia card. EVGA for lifetime warranty FTW! (Untill I o/c it)
