Question 9800GT a worthy upgrade from 9600GSO 512?

Hey guys,

I recently bought an EVGA GeForce 9600GSO 512MB graphics card. I am not to satisfied with the card so I am considering upgrading the card with EVGA's step up program. I have been looking at the 9800GT 512 as a possibility. Do you think that this is a worthy upgrade from the 9600, or should I go with another card; I was also thinking of getting the GTS 250.
System Specs:

Specs:
-2.5GB of 800MHZ RAM (Upgrading to 4GB soon)
-9600GSO 512 MB
-2.7 GHZ AMD Althon 7750 X2 Black Edition
-500GB Barracuda Hard Drive

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

At 1680x1050 either 9800GT or GTS250 will allow you to max almost any game. GTS250 is really just an updated 8800/9800 GT. It might run a bit cooler though. Otherwise performance will be pretty much the same.

Great, thanks :)
Do you think that with the 9800 i'll be able to run crysis in DX9 Mode on high at 1440x900 with over 30fps?

EDIT: Nevermind, I made up my made and will be selling this PC and building another one.

the GTS250 is actually the 9800GTX+ which is a fair amount faster than the 9/8800GT.

Really? Since it's only 25$ more than the 9800GT, I'll be picking up that card for my new build.

Maybe 10% difference in performance, but for $25 difference might as well get the GTS250 I guess.

It will be a fair uprgade unless you are playing on a 4:3 screen or on a 19 inch and less. But for the price difference get the GTS 250, alsotry to look at the asus DK version, cooler is really nice and pretty silent.

i would get the GTX260 b/c it will max out anything in the near future and its a great upgrade from 9600GSO. I would get it as an upgrade from 9600GT.

Yeah, I've read some reviews on the 260, and it seems awesome. Is there is certain brand (eg. EVGA, BFG) that I should go with for the GTX 260? I was looking at this one and I wanted to know if the card is reliable compared to other brands?

Thanks
