Question 9600GSO @ 1280x1024

hello guys, it`s been a long time

I need some piece of advice from you - i have a galaxy 9600gso 384mb/192bit and I`m currently playing on my 1280x1024 Sony LCD work of a snobart.

Is it worth it the changing to 9800GTX (or 250gts =the same thing) ?! I don`t go higher than 1280x1024 ... I mean, I thought I should buy a good cooler, OC my 9600 and wait till the dx11 cards appear, then make a decisive change.

The only game who knocked out my card was GTAIV. *same res, medium &low img quality/rendering - barely some AA* Nevermind, I`m just waiting for Diablo3....

Tell me your opinion about this... i`ll appreciate it

i would w8 till the new card b/c the 9600GS0 is still a competent card for many games. Why don't you lower your res for now?

1280x1024 can be used with a 8800GT.

Trust me its all I use.

I'm using an 8800gs which is basically the same card, running games at 1680x1050. Although the only game I play consistently is TF2, I jack all the settings up to max. HDR, AA, the works. My card still runs the game without a hitch, and this is on an e5200 @ 3.0Ghz.

Honestly, if you want to really get your moneys worth, get an XFX 4850 from NCIX. You can pricematch it down to about $100 Newegg.ca - XFX HD-485X-YDFC Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards and it provides a great bang for your buck along with a stellar warranty. It will also become somewhat of a future proof if you stick to that resolution, and even if you got higher, it's still great!

That game is very CPU dependent. Upgrade to quad-core if you don't have one, OC if you do.

Thanks for all your replies.
I have a C2D E7200 @ 3Ghz (oc`ed for now, and no voltage mod) .

I think I`ll wait for a new dx gen.

That card will handle Diablo 3 fine at that res. Seriously, though, I'd start looking into a new monitor. Once you go widescreen, you never go back.
