There goes my new 4870x2...
So about a month ago, I bought a Sapphire 4870X2. Little did I know how big this thing was. It was working great, untill it broke - literally. The thing pretty much bent it self in half (not really) but the thing is toast. Not to mention I invested $70 in an Arctic Cooler Accelero XTREME on it... So now, I am on a quest, for a new card. Or a new build altogether...
4GB OCZ Reaper DDR2 1066MHz (Is 8GB worth it? - All im doing is gaming)
Thinking of a P5Q Pro-Turbo with two XFX 4980's. (Is Crossfire needed for a 22" - 40" single display? Only one display at a time)
PC Power and Cooling Silencer 750w
Are there any good SLI Mobos out there that compare to the P5QPro Turbos price?
Id like SLI 275s
Im thinking of using BrainEaters idea (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...-680i-die.html) on it.
um how about an rma cards that just break?
I dont think sapphire will do that. Its an aftermarket heatsink. Removing theirs voids all warranties.
Man that sucks! I'd really like to see photos too as I'm having a hard time picturing how a card folded on itself from one corner's weight. But you're right on the RMA... with an after market cooler you're SOL.
sorry but that's 100% that they won't rma it sapphire does not cover heatsink removal that's 1 reason i stopped buying there cards. ( not that there bad cards i mean i just pull my heatsink off a lot so warranties are good thing)
I really need to see what this looks like, never heard of this happening really
in regards to good sli mobos... stay away from the 7xx nvidia chipset series. the nb cooling (unless u go aftermarket) is pretty brutal.
i personally use a 750i ftw. it's decent in every other way, but the nb kinda takes away from it being any special.
p5q pro-turbo sounds like a great choice, as is gtx 275's. sexy setup.
