Default what is bottlenecking my card?

I recently picked up an asus 275 and i'm quite pleased with it but I think something in my rig is creating a bottleneck. I can max out most of my games but a few titles like arma 2 and world in conflict give me trouble, I can only set the video settings to medium before the game starts to lag.

Here's my setup

intel 6600 quad core 2.4 ghz
asus 275
4gb ddr2
acer aspire m5620

I can't find much info about that acer motherboard, not even on the acer site, does anyone think that component could be the problem? Am I expecting too much from this video card?

WHat resolution you running? These cards don't begin to really shine until you get to 1920X1200 or higher.

1680x1050, would I actually see a performance increase by raising the resolution?

Oh and your CPU is also probably bottlenecking you. 2.4Ghz isn't much for that card, i think.

Those games are both CPU intensive, I believe. And while running higher detail levels mostly taxes your GPU, it still adds to the overall CPU load, especially when the increased detail involve things like particle physics. Play those games a little while running Task Manager in the background and see if you're pegging any CPU cores. If so, you've got your answer.

^^ what he said. Those games are highly CPU dependent so OCing your Q6600 would really help. Your GTX275 is great for that resolution (for any other game :P).

Dang... looks like I have a little work ahead of me.

What would be the logical solution for my little problem, buying a watercooling kit and ocing my current cpu or just buying a better cpu?

Thanks for all the responces!

If thats your computer in that link, you won't be able to overclock it.

Pre-built computers have a locked bios. A new motherboard and possibly OS would be required.
