Catalyst™ 7.7 Drivers Release Notes
Word of caution. I installed these for my ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro and weird things started happening, such as my screen would peel down when switching windows and my screen would go off and on a few times. The drivers lasted on my system all of 2 minutes before I rolled back to my previous version pre 7.6. I may try the 7.6 drivers.
Hmmmmm I wonder if these will fix the bloody issues with the 690g chipset gonna have to keep my eye on this.
I have installed the Catalyst 7.6 drivers and that fixed the issue. So it appears to be the Catalyst 7.7 drivers.
Catalyst 7.6 made the 690g chipset unstable but maybe you got lucky. People were waiting for the 7.7 to see if it fixed it but I haven't nothing yet.
7.2 or 7.3 was what people were using for the 690g
I'm running the 7.6 cats.
I had a look at the release notes when it came out and decided that there wasn't anything in there that I needed so I'll stick with what's working for now.
I doubt we're going to see any "across the board" performance benefits under XP for any cards other than the 2000 series so it'll probably just be upgrades for bug fixes from now on.
I'm still on catalyst 7.3 drivers. They work just fine, I might switch to 7.6 or something but no need right now.
With my X1600 XT I'm running the Omega 3. 86 drivers (Catalyst 7.4)
I just switched to the Catalyst 7.7 drivers, and no problems so far. What made me switch from the Omega drivers was it had my card listed as X1300 series instead of the X1600 series.
