Default why go for best price when we are performance guru?

why benchmark junkies always go for best bang for buck? aka best value vs price? if they are benchmark junkies or performance guru.... they have no problem of affording. they must be benchmark junkies or performance guru if they are buying high-end cards. so why they only pick the one that has best bang fopr buck when they can afford anything?

say 4890.... its best bang for buck since decent performance and nice price. but the gtx285 is a much more powerful card but alot higher price. why dont they get gtx285 instead of 4890? they are performance guru they have no worry about money so why not get the most powerfulest? 4890/285 why not go for 285? 4870x2/295 why not go for 295? why bother with performance vs price? since we are benchmark junkies?

we just want the best of the best. why bother with crossfire 4870x2 when we can get tri-sli gtx285? know im saying.

from 4890 to gtx285 is just couple hundred more.... wait... only about 100.00 more and that gap means nothing for us performance guru.

Because most benchmark junkies (quite different from fanbois) don't have unlimited cash and want to make sure they're getting the best value for their hard earned money.

I consider myself a (somewhat reformed of late) benchmark junkie, but it's so that I can stretch my upgrade dollars to the max, not to ensure that my e-peen meter is pegged to overdrive.

I generally purchase new hardware which is 1 - 2 steps behind the "latest and greatest" so it's really important to me that I do the research to ensure that I'm getting good value and that my purchase will be up to the task of running current software without a significant performance penalty.

The C2D vrs Phenom II benchmarks are a perfect example of why budget minded geeks should be benchmark junkies.... most reviews of the PII compared it favourably pricewise to the i7 platform, but smart geeks compared those results to older C2D procs and made their purchase decisions based on that.

I don't want to pay that $100 more if there's no reason to. If I can get very good performance out of a card for $100 less then I see no reason to go that extra mile.

I tried "the best" at the time (the qx9650 and 9800gx2) and was quite disappointed I spent that kind of cash on the CPU. I could have bought something like a q9550 for 400-500$ at the time, and it would have been almost as good.

The majority of people don't have thousands to spend on parts. Some hardcore computer enthusiasts prefer to go all out in buying the latest and greatest. Those people probably have money handed to them every day or have a well paid job where they have the extra time and money.
