Cool beans Realityshift, thanks for the info! Glad you accept my apology; I really need to think before I type/talk; gonna get me in serious trouble someday! Will see if I can find some links for you; have to check my history but as far as I remember some of the links are dodgy so...Ya I have seen this
Gizmodo - ASUS Mars GTX 295 Smoothly Running Far Cry at 3840 x 2160 Pixels - ASUS Mars GTX 295. Makes me think twice about my love for ATI. Not that I can afford or justify a 4870X2 or the Asus Mars. But maybe this is a sign that ATI's new high-end card will be insane as they'll have to try and outdo Nvidia. Although it'll probably be Asus in particular; having the fastest Nvidia and ATI cards in production, even in limited quantities is surely a good marketing tool. This is like German carmakers warfare on a whole new level!
Check this out if you haven't seen it before:
CrossFire™ - Downloads. It basically explains everything about Crossfire in a fair amount of detail (direct from the ATI website). It's a bit old (2006) but anyway; sounds like you know some of it anyways.
Please everyone read this.

It says something like "Even some new DirectX11 features will run on older hardware." so basically if I'm correct that means you don't need a 5000 series card for DX11????
