Default do each card matter on picture-quality?

do each card matter on picture-quality?

i know that ati is better picture-quality than nvidia but lets ignore that.

if same monitor and same spec computer and same everything except for graphic card.... play same game at maximim setting and exact same setting... will the other one look better than another? despite performance issue.ignore performance issue. picture-quality alone.

1: x700 pro VS. x850 xt..... x850 xt look better?

2: 8800 gts g92 VS. 8800 ultra..... 8800 ultra look better?

3: 8500 gt VS. 7900 gtx...... 7900 gtx look better? (on sm3 dx9)

4: x1300 pro VS. x1950 xtx......... x1950 xtx look better?

It's jsut not that simple, if you want to forgo performance.

In such a comparison, we would have to look at the specific capabilities of each chip...8800GTS and 8800Ultra are teh same physical chip, thereeby the rendering they present is exactly the same, but with other chips, we could potentially get a better image, if we are willing to sacrifice performance.

That said though, I think most of you list is fairly accurate, nonetheless.

While there might be some differences between the visual quality (that's highly subjective) of current cards, I'd say that the days of one card having a noticably better image (disregarding performance so we're not talking about being able to turn all of the eye candy on) are behind us.

The last card I had that went one way or the other was a 6600GT, and lord.... the sharpness of that image was brutal when compared to the ATI cards of that era.

sharpness brutal? do you mean bad? the sharpness of the 6600 gt is ugly when compare to other card on its generation?

Well I can personally tell you that I can not see the difference from a 4870 to GTX 260 core 216 to a 8800 Ultra to a GTX 285 ( I owned all of them and used all of them). If there is some difference (maybe AA) then it is so insignificant that you have to magnify the picture.
