GPU for 3d/2d rendering...?

I'm going to be buying a new video card very soon...
Not sure what I want to get though.
Budget is going to be around $250 (if I wait a couple more weeks I'll have around $350, but my gf needs RAM so I can't spend it all on me ).
I do some gaming, and would likely do more if I had a good card, but mostly the comp is used for working with 3d apps, and other art programs.

I'd like some suggestions.
I really like the GTX275... seriously considering one.
That would force me to have to save money for a couple weeks though (which I suck at).
So, if I can't wait I'm looking at a GTX260.

What are the best cards for rendering and stuff at or under $300?

Working in CS4 on a daily with GTX 275 and GPU enabled support, works smooth, had to turn off Aero theme though to fix brush lag.
