Don't think you'll see a solution :(. I bought a Rocketfish PSU from futureshop, just to test (I can just return it) out if my PSU is the problem. Turns out the PSU won't fit in the case, so I've just decided to upgrade basically everything. I've been trying to upgrade this crappy HP pc I got 2 years ago but it was already very small inside as is. The 4870 barely fit in.

You can test the PSU even if it doesn't fit in the case. You can at least see if the PSU is the cause of the problems. But you're buying a whole new system instead?

Can't test it outside either :P The 4 pin connector for the motherboard doesn't fit because the PSU I got has 2 4 pin connectors right beside each other. And I'm not buying a whole new system :P Gonna use parts from my old system. Only new things I'm gonna get is a bigger case, motherboard, cpu and psu.

+1 psu

get rid of that thing fast. An antec 500 watt earthwatts is plenty for 1 single 4870, and can be had for $70 after taxes.

NCIX's anniversary sale is going on, $107 for a TX650 ATM, which will eat a 4870 crossfire alive if you choose to xfire down the road.

even if the problem isnt your psu, get a new one.
