The GTX 285 2gb vs. GTX 295 vs. GTX 350 (rumour)

Hi all.
I am planning on getting a very high end video card soon and I am wiling to pay about 525 bucks maximum for it. I am thinking about the gtx 285 2gb, the gtx 295, or the rumoured gtx 350. Which one should I get.

No need for the GTX285 2GB at your resolution. 1GB would be plenty. In this case, I'd get the GTX285 or even the GTX275. I understand that you have $525 to spend so if you want to spend all of it, go for the GTX285 1GB.

Well you can't afford the 295 if you have only $525 to spend. I wouldn't waste your money on one 285. Try the 275 in SLI, it's hella close to a 285 and it comes to about $550, so if you fork over a $25 more you'll get great performance

I have about the end of summer to finallize my build, so if the 350 came out then should i get it? and in that time I am pretty sure the 295's price would go down, right? and say if I added a 22 inch monitor to my 24 for dual screen, would the 295 and 285 2gb benefit me then?

If it were me and if I had an sli mobo I'd sli the gtx275. Other option wait to see what the gtx3xx is going to do then pick somthing out. Every time a new card hits the shelves ati or nvidia it drives down the older cards price so if u'r waiting keep waiting and u'r $525 will probably buy u more later.

Isn't GTX 350 another rebranding of 200 series like GTS 250?

shayan288 May 24, 2009 08:58 PM

but liek way better.

gt 350? as in it uses the g300 core?

where did you hear it was a rebranding? nvidia may not make the best business decisions but they still disapprove of committing suicide

Yeah OP, links or it never happened

and Nvidia has been shooting themselves in the foot lately with all this re-branding. Its ticking me off :angry2:... I hate it when a company purposefully stints the growth of technology.

Its not suicide, but it might as well be when it comes to my money and where it goes.
