Default gtx 275 is making noise... (not the fan)

Today was the first day I tried out my new asus 275, she runs titles such as l4d, waw, unreal tournament and all hl2 based games at max settings without a hickup so I was very pleased at first but then I started running the more demanding games such as farcry 2, crysis/warhead, wic ect...

The 275 will emit an annoying, high pitched sound when its running crysis or wic at maximum graphic settings, im quite pleased it can run these games without lag but that high pitch squeel, which isn't the fan, just ruins it for me....

is it normal for this card to emmit such a sound? should I exchange the card?

Sometimes bad capacitors squeal when put under heavy load...If you're sure it's not the fan, you may want to look into an RMA.

Is that typical for the 275? I've never had that on any gpus I've owned, but I'm still on an 8800gt. I've only ever had bad mobo caps squeal, or a bit of a hum from psu coils...

No every single card can do this, I see it most of the time with Nvidia HIGH end GPU but any capacitor can do this. it`s normal and most of the company accept it has a RMA reason. There is no risk for your card but it can be realy annoying sometime. Your to see.

Both of my 9800s do this while folding.. it's less severe while gaming, but still there..

Just turn up the sound!

Most higher end cards do it while gaming or folding.

damn... I was hoping it wasn't normal so I could exchange it for a non-squeeler

I just read that putting a few layers of nail varnish on a few of the cards components will smother the sound, I might give it a try since I bought the in-store warranty that covers pretty much everything....
