gtx 275 is making noise... (not the fan)

My GTX 260, GTX 260 216, GTX 275, GTX 280, GTX 285, HD 4890 and HD 4870 X2 all do it to varying degrees.

My GTX 260 does it. I like to think of it as a friendly sound that lets me know it's still folding.

I just read that putting a few layers of nail varnish on a few of the cards components will smother the sound, I might give it a try since I bought the in-store warranty that covers pretty much everything....

That reminds me of the time somebody told me I could put small drop of superglue on the screw after I adjusted the head on my cassette player.

I rread about the squeal, i have a evga gtx 275 sc, and i havent heard any of these noises, but it seems tob e a common issue people complain about. Maybe ive just become tonedeaf, as noise from my pc doesnt bother me, i used to have a loud rig, and while my system isnt quite as loud anymore, it dont think id notice the sound if it was emitting one.

You're right about the tone thing. To me it sounds like a bunch of little tiny crickets inside of my case.

All my video cards and PSU's scream! There's folding stress for ya! Nothing to worry about....it's like living next to the rail road tracks... after a while you don't hear the trains passing by anymore! :)

Boy nvidia cards have been doing this as far back as the 8800GTX days.. and I can't say if any of the 7 series did but I know the 8800GTX was one of the first cards I heard do it.

my 280 does it. also it does it most if your not using vsync.

I ran across a link about the squealing, in another forum. Highly doubt if I would ever try this, but some had success with it. UPDATED: Nvidia’s “deadly” flaw and how to fix it – no more squealing! Theo’s Bright Side Of IT

The train analogy is a good one, train runs across the street from me, I barely hear it.
