Default Nvidia GTX 260 Linux

I'm not quite sure this belongs here or in the OS forum...

I purchased the original GTX 260 to run on Linux. A few months later, when 216 was released, I was under the impression that the core 216's extra stream processors were only applied to DirectX apps, and with Linux using OpenGL, would be useless. Am I correct?

Thanks!

I highly doubt that is the case, it just doesn't sound logical... unless the Linux drivers for some odd reason couldn't access the extra shader cores.. but then that'd mean they couldn't use any video card with more cores.
