If you're a big gamer then SKYMTL is right. But if you're not sell it and take some of the cash and get yourself a little upgrade like a GTS 250 or 4870 1GB. That way you get a upgrade and some cash too. Plus you could try and sell your 3870. You might get $60-$75 for it (not here though).

You see that's the thing. It is summer so I'm working again, therefore I should be gaming more often then I would during school. But honestly I mostly play COH, CS:S, BF X, and SC lol. If I don't take advantage of it now then there won't be a point in keeping it as the value will drop drastically month by month to the point where I could have sold it then down the road when I want the upgrade, get something better for half the cost. I'm going to have to go video game shopping and see what games I might want to keep it for.

Any ideas on a sale value?

I just sold my 3850 a month ago for $125 ;) try selling it locally =)

As for weather to sell or keep the GTX, the GTX 285s are awesome folding cards, much better then that 3870.. That being said unless you really want to play any new games coming out then you could sell that 285, new ones go for between $350 and $400, id say used would be close within that price range =) You could sell it, and your 3870 and switch up to a 4770, or GTS 250 or something if you want to hang out ad the mid ground AND gain some money in the trade. GTS 250s have been dropping to as low as $130, and the 4770 hangs out around there or less as well.

Grats on the win l-lunter! I'd sell your 3870 and keep that GTX 285 if you like playing games. Stop folding to play games? No dude you can do both at the same time np with that card and get double the ppd your 3870 got. And as for the gtx 285 doing DX 10.1 thats a no. Nvidia cards are DX 10 only but have extras like PhysX and Cuda that spice up graphics and programming for Nvidia GPUs. And as for folding you should get roughly 8000ppd with that factory overclocked gtx 285...thats a very nice jump from the 3000ppd your 3870 got.

Congratulations l-lunter a well deserving win!

Edit: Ohh on the other hand seeing your not playing bleeding edge games with graphics up the wahzoo and will be busy this summer selling it is a good option for you. You could probably get yourself a gtx 260 for $200 that would double your folding numbers and you'd game with loads more eye candy than that 3870 plus you could pocket a couple C-Notes which is always a nice thing.

How can he fold and game at the same time with that card? is there someway to throttle F@H GPU that I dont know of? If your running the GPU client of F@H you cant allocate how much processing power the client uses to free up gaming power o.O

Actually I'm lucky to get 2000. I think I get ever 511 pointer there is. Well as it stands at my resolution I play with max settings (1680x1050, full everything), and as anything > 60 fps doesn't really matter I don't think there is a point, thus I think I will sell it. I mean yes I can fold with it, but if I sold it to someone here they'd fold with it just as much I believe.

Priority is based on CPU usage isnt it? I didnt think it had anything to do with the priority of GPU related computing, even if you could do that a video game is going to rape as much of the videocard processing power as possible, leaving very little left for F@H to use.
