in our testing.... Sapphire Radeon HD4850 512MB Graphics Card Review The only tests where the 8800GTS (512) eked out a bit of a lead was low res 0X AA.

i dont understand. the spec shows 8800 higher spec.

or is it due to the 128 stream vs 800 stream? the stream is a crucial point?

What are you looking at on that page? All I see are user rankings for the GTS, and no rankings at all for the 4850.

Are you just comparing the technical specs? That's not going to tell you anything unless you're comparing the same GPU core against a different model. (Same as you can't compare a 3G AM2 against a 3G C2D).

The 4850 is a decent amount more powerful than the 8800GTS 512. If you're looking for a more fair comparison, compare it to the 9800GTX, which is essentially a higher clocked 8800GTS 512. Even then, the 4850 is a tiny bit faster most of the time, but when you compare it to the 9800GTX+ (even higher clocked) the 9800GTX+ is faster almost all the time.

This poll will go 100% for the 4850

Now if you're asking about "bang-for-buck" you might get a different answer. 4850s still cost a fair amount, and the 8800 GTS (512) is old enough that you should get a pretty good price on one if you can find it retail.
