Default best card for under $400

I've been doing a little reading and it seems that the 4890 and 275 are top contenders for the price vs performance rank but i'm still not sure which one to get...

I'm leaning towards the 275 but only because I read that the 4890 is quite loud and I don't plan on watercooling in the near future so noise would be an issue.

which one would you suggest I install in my e6600 ?

and where is the best place to buy this kind of stuff from within canada? i'm sick of reading about great newegg sales

If noise is a concern then go with the GTX 275 as the HD 4890's fan does tend to ramp up quite a bit.

NCIX. It has some great specials, including Price Matching. You really can't beat that.

I picked up a 275 for $275 (NCIX FTW!!) shipping included. It does run a little warm (folding 24/7) so I set the fan speed to 55%. At that setting it is still quieter than my HIS 4870 was at 35%. I am liking the 6-8000 ppd also!

Expect a huge roundup of GTX 275 cards sometime next week. I've lost track of how many I now have...

I love my bfg 260/192core. Been running it at 837/1674/1280 for 6 months now. The highest clocked non sub zero 260 on 3D mark.

dont ignore the GTX280's They are being phased out but can still be had for quite the bargan (if you can find-em), and perform better than the 275's because of their memory bandwidth.

i snaged a 280 for $350, thats 50 bucks under your budget!!
