Vertical sync (or vsync for short) is an extra setting that you can turn on that caps your framerate to be equal to your monitor's refresh rate (for 60hz = 60 fps, get it?)
more info here: Adventures in High Fidelity: Screen Tearing Explained

if its not available as an in-game setting, try enabling it (forcing it) through your nvidia control panel.

Your board doesnt officially support Phenom II's but it does support the first phenom chips which would be a bit of an improvemen on what your using now.

Official support list for your motherboard can found through this page, just select from the drop down menu. Also tells you what bios is needed to use these as well

EDIT: you should also remember that the M2N-E doesnt support HT3.0 so you wont be getting the full potential out of a phenom

hi, its not bottling that much. Since your playing on 1440x900

for budget gamers, it is recommend to turn off all other applications to increase FPS

I have had a E2180 @ 2.66 with an 8800gt @ 700/975/2000 on 1680x1050 and i almost see no bottle necks.

at 1280x1024 resolutions even an 9600gt would beat a 9800gt or 9800gtx+ and the gtx 285 will be par with the 9600gt at low resolutions. The higher end gpu will only show its true colors in higher resolution game plays.

as your gpu is at 2.0ghz and a 9800gtx w/ 1440x900 you should be fine. If you really want the extra 10FPS or so try overclocking it to 2.5ghz. your cpu should be able to do it with stock volts.

i compared a E8400 @ 3.6ghz and E2180 @ 2.66 it only gave me an average of 4-9 FPS difference. on some games they are almost par
