gtx 285 or 4890

performance wise after overclocking which one?

mchutch April 28, 2009 12:05 PM

The GTX 285 would edge a single 4890 in gaming...

hohohee April 28, 2009 01:28 PM

no contest. GTX 285 rips the hell out of 4890.

Video Card Comparison - GPUReview.com

even GTX 260 beat 4890.

i hope next series of ati is strong

Another vote for GTX285.

+1 for GTX285

depend if you are searching best value price card... If you only want perf go for 285 but if price is a side you want to look then 4890 is way better.

Yeah the GTX 285 is a beast and there is nothing that can beat it yet except dual cards.

Realityshift April 28, 2009 03:41 PM

GTX 275 here, edges out both for the same price as the 4890, the GTX 275 is $100 less then a 285 and pretty close in performance.

What's your system specs and what resolution are you gaming at?

I'd go with the ATI 4870 or NVIDIA GTX260 with 216 shaders. Anything higher, I can't justify the increase prices for that minor FPS increase.

Then go with the GTX 275 as it beats the 4890 for the same price. Nvidia is doing better right now. Not to mention you get hardware physx if you care about that. The GTX 275 smokes the 4890 at min frames per second.
